The previous Heligan guidebook served its purpose, but was outdated and in need of reinvention. As a result, the team asked us to create a premium product, which could form a desirable and valuable keepsake after a visit.
With so much information at hand, the guidebook also needed to tell the story of the gardens in a clear and engaging way, so that it became a useful tool while on-site, as well as being an interesting read at home. It should communicate Heligan’s values and ethos, while also being consistent with its updated branding and website.
We set out a clean, accessible design in which content flows naturally but maintains visual interest. The cover, with illustrations peeking through a die-cut, bring the ‘lost gardens’ to life and invite readers to discover what’s inside. Staying true to Heligan’s environmental focus, we also embraced natural materials and more sustainable printing methods.
