Review of the Year 2020
Posted by Nixon
It’s been the year that nobody could have expected: the history-making kicker that turned out to be radically different to every single blog post predicting ‘2020 trends’.
For us, this year meant the chance to live and work a little differently. While there have been many, many challenges, there have certainly been upsides to pressing ‘reset’.
We’ve always been a fairly flexible bunch, but 2020 saw us embrace rapid change as we started working from home, hosting virtual workshops, throwing out the nine-to-five and exploring new ways to find inspiration.
Despite all this (or perhaps because of it), it’s been a bumper year, resulting in a veritable selection box of top projects with which to mark the festive season. Here are just a few of the highlights...
Trevaskis Farm
Within days of the first lockdown hitting the UK, as the nation’s suppliers struggled with demand for home delivery slots and household essentials, we began working with Trevaskis Farm on a new ecommerce site for local customers. Just a few weeks later, the finished site was live and the farm was able to begin selling much-needed groceries and takeaway food.
boatfolk
This year has been massive for boatfolk, with its exciting new brand being rolled out across a whopping 11 UK marinas. Working on everything from brochures and stationery to van livery and signage, our design team has certainly been busy. Look out for the case study coming soon!
Duchy of Cornwall Nursery
We’ve worked with Duchy of Cornwall Nursery for many years, so it was a delight to launch the latest version of its website. This was followed a few months later by a brand new ecommerce store, where customers can order nursery goods for home delivery or click and collect.
Cornwall Trade and Investment
Cornwall Trade and Investment helps businesses relocate to Cornwall, creating valuable connections and supporting economic growth. We worked with the CTI team to create a new and engaging website with intuitive navigation, visual interest and prominent calls to action.
Sensory Trust
It was wonderful to team up with Sensory Trust: a charity that aims to make the great outdoors accessible and engaging for all. We helped the Sensory Trust team to tell its story and help its users with a vibrant new website.
Cornwall Community Foundation
Earlier this year we had the privilege of creating a new brand identity for Cornwall Community Foundation as our way of helping to promote the amazing work it does. This includes awarding grants of over £1.5m to vulnerable people and communities in Cornwall who were affected by the pandemic. To find out more, visit the CCF website.
Team news
With December coming to a close, we’ve just managed to squeeze in two new arrivals: the lovely Cat has joined our team as Account Manager, while Hannah gets to spend Christmas with her brand new daughter. A special mention also goes to Natalie, whose baby girl arrived back in August (and has already joined one of our team Zoom parties).
Christmas opening
Wherever you are, and whomever you’re with, we wish you a very happy Christmas and a jolly 2021 (let’s face it, it’s bound to be an improvement). We’ll be retreating with the double edition Radio Times from Wednesday 23rd December, and back raring to go on Monday 4th January. Until then, may your days be merry and bright.
