For 30 years, Norfolk Interiors has created exceptional furniture and interiors for the superyacht and luxury property industries. After a change in ownership, the team asked us to help with a brand overhaul, bringing Norfolk Interiors into a new brand family with the same commitment to excellence.
Shaping strategy as part of a wider brand family
With Norfolk Interior Specialists being welcomed into the Pendennis group, we were able to bring a keen understanding of the luxury marine space to this gentle repositioning. The brand has a long pedigree of its own, with decades of experience in creating technically complex interiors and furniture for superyachts. For this reason, we sought to distil and celebrate everything that makes it unique, while also highlighting the core values that it shares with Pendennis.
To reflect the company’s fresh focus, we removed the word ‘Specialists’ from its name, making the subtle shift to ‘Norfolk Interiors’. From here, we defined Norfolk Interiors’ brand strategy, including its values and mission, before considering tone of voice.
An identity with the hallmarks of craft
As master craftspeople, the Norfolk Interiors team brings finesse to every project, from high-end interiors to free-standing pieces. We brought this spirit into the brand’s new visual identity, which pairs a sense of openness with meticulous craft. This includes a primary colour palette inspired by product quality and industry heritage, and a maker’s mark logo featuring shapes that represent both the traditional and the contemporary.
Elevating design, no matter the platform
To reflect the brand's craftsmanship, we designed a website that balances elegance with usability. Thoughtful use of negative space and subtle interactions ensured the artistry took centre-stage without overwhelming users. Complementing this, we wrote original copy for the site’s main pages, reflecting Norfolk Interiors’ new tone of voice.
Squarespace enabled us to work quickly and efficiently while ensuring the client could confidently manage updates post-launch. The result is a website that demonstrates how thoughtful design elevates the user experience, regardless of the platform.
The origins of the identity – the maker's mark
Furniture makers' marks originated in the medieval guild system, as a way to ensure quality and authenticity. These evolved over centuries into stamps, labels or engravings used by craftsmen and manufacturers to signify their skill and brand identity. We built upon the angular nature of chiselled wood to craft our own version, taking the brand into the future with confidence and precision.
